The Doctor Will See You Now
When it comes to news consumption I try to balance staying informed with not going overboard. I think cable news has been fantastical and fear-mongering lately, if not always. I'm taking social distancing very seriously and following all the rules put in place, but I am also always trying to educate myself with facts from balanced journalists and medical professionals. I was a bit relieved to hear an interview with Dr. David Katz on Bill Maher a couple of weeks ago. Not many people are talking about different scenarios outside of the extreme options of full-on quarantine vs. bar hopping and, like, Spring Breaking. Katz speaks of a middle ground where at-risk individuals take extreme precauctions, and society takes measures to protect these people. But maybe shutting down the economy completely, which will also leads to deaths, isn't the answer. I certainly don't know what the answer is. I'm not a scientist or public health expert, but I am a citizen trying to educate myself and get an understanding on what's going on in the world and what the appropriate response is. If you want to hear a unique, underreported viewpoint, check it out here. It's a breath of fresh air.
