Bee Gees Band Aid

I’ll be listening to Bee Gees music exclusively for the foreseeable future after seeing an awesome documentary on the band, The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend A Broken Heart. I didn't know much about the music group prior to seeing the doc, and now I'm their number one fan.

The film portrays the band's many evolutions. The Bee Gees comprises three brothers who started performing together as kids. They grow from boy band in the 60's to disco phenomenon in the 70's and later succeed as epic songwriters for other musicians. The brothers Gibb reinvent themselves throughout their careers in extraordinary ways. They're no doubt artistic geniuses who made magical music. I know this sounds over the top. But isn't true art really a gift from God or the universe or whatever you believe in? Chris Martin, one of the movie's interviewees, makes just that point in the film.

The Bee Gees overcame many obstacles to achieve greatness. Adaptability was their superpower. Along with their special bond as siblings. Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb are the ultimate inspiration. I was moved to tears learning about the fate of those Gibbs who are no longer with us. While watching How Can You Mend A Broken Heart I laughed, I cried and I fell in love with a band I was pretty indifferent about prior. Highly recommended viewing (and listening).
