Whisper Network

I recently read Whisper Network, a novel about three women and their experiences working as lawyers under a man rumored to be a sexual predator. The book is well-written and page-turning. There's a murder investigation, a kid bullying incident, a case of postpartum depression. It's intense. I don't agree with reviews calling the novel "delicious" (The New York Times Book Review) but I do agree that Whisper Network "opens a conversation about challenging a man in power" (Newsweek). Refinery29 provides the best summation: "This feminist thriller is a thought-provoking addition to #MeToo's conversation about workplace misconduct, power, and gender roles. It's also a delectable read." OK, again, minus the whole edible part. Maybe I didn't savor this book because it lays bare revelations of sexism in the workplace, and brings to light bad behavior of some "professional" men. This novel is fictional, but unfortunately much of its storyline and plot points ring true. But overall, a good, important read.
