Too Good to Be True
I read this novel in mere days. It's captivating, deep and relatable. It's also devastating at times, even creepy. The book centers on twentysomething Skye Starling and a whirlwind courtship, told via three perspectives. It's a romcom-thriller mashup and there are some horrific parts, but I powered through because I was hooked.
There are mentions of places near and dear to me. The West Village, Buvette, Rosemarys, Nantucket, Westport, even New Canaan. Skye's character is so familiar. Her childhood has both fairytale and tragic parts, her seemingly charmed adulthood is rife with anxiety and OCD. Too Good to Be True is hard to read at times, and also greatly addicting. Author Carola Lovering is a gifted storyteller. I already ordered her other book.
