The Pits
I know I'm not the only one who took lockdown as an opportunity to ditch makeup on a daily basis. I also wasn't alone in tossing my aluminum ridden Secret deodorant. Aluminum and parabens in deodorant might be just fine. But they might be harmful. (See here and here.) Regardless, I'm a bit of a purist/scaredy cat, so I'd been meaning to go more natural with my toiletries. Being hunkered down during Covid felt like the right time to finally switch up my deodorant. Unfortunately for my husband and kids (JK they didn't notice!), antiperspirants devoid of aluminum, parabens, dyes and talc (all the ingredients with a questionable rep) don't work as well as the classic, chemical laden formulas. Using new, natural deodorants, I felt less fresh than when I had, for years, used Secret Shower Fresh. I still miss my beloved Shower Fresh deo. But after some serious trial and error, I think I've landed on a good substitution.
Here are the many au natural deodorants I've tried here and there over the years, and in earnest during social distancing:
Agent Nateur
Explore Naturals
Lavanila
Pure Pits
Schmidt's
Secret Aluminum Free
Tom's
Here's the one I landed on, finally, after a friend said she swears by it. So far so good.
