I needed a little escape during election week, so Hubs & I watched the new Seth Meyers stand up special Dad Man Walking as well as the Martha Stewart documentary on Netflix. Both were engaging and entertaining. I giggled a lot during Meyers's jokes, and I was totally intrigued by Martha Stewart's story.
Nowadays I see Stewart out and about in the zeitgeist, usually alongside her partner in crime, Snoop Dogg. I didn't realize the extent of her success or the backstory she sprang from. Stewart was a trailblazer, a badass feminist and a business icon. I am incredibly impressed by her, and I love her ballsy vibe; she DGAF.
Stewart did have some criticisms about the documentary, which she shared with a New York Times reporter. However, she knows the most important message came through: "It should be about showing that you can get through life and still be yourself.β Amen, sister. The documentary, despite its shortcomings, won me over.

P.S. It's a small world (after all). Hubs met Seth Meyers's wife Alexi in Austin; the two shared a jet ski on Lake Travis. And we recently saw Martha Stewart while out to dinner in Bedford. Stars, they're just like us.
