My Old Ass

I have lots to catch up on blog-wise; I've been so busy offline. But - I had to whip up a post as soon as I finished the film My Old Ass. Such a silly title for a truly profound movie. Why aren't more people talking about this flick?! Can you tell I'm obsessed?
My Old Ass is the best movie I've seen in ages. TBH, I was initially turned off by the name and movie poster. I can't help but judge a book by its cover.. But someone recommended it, and so I decided to give it a shot. I was so pleasantly surprised by the film's messaging, and its mix of levity and depth. My Old Ass is beautiful and wise, touching and poignant. I laughed, I cried - a lot.
I don't want to give too much away, but the movie centers on an 18 year old girl on the precipice of adulthood, and her 39-year old self. It's a unique coming of age story. My Old Ass is both comedic and dramatic. There's a drug trip, but the movie isn't about drugs. It's about life, and love, and - perhaps - the divine. The film is brilliantly written; the acting is top notch and the setting is gorgeous. I can't stop thinking about it and I can't wait to rewatch and dive back in. I'll have the tissues handy.
Go, watch!
