Music to my ears
I don’t watch football nor do I even know how the game works. But I love the background noise of a game. And I’m someone (read: HSP) who usually doesn’t favor any noise whatsoever. But growing up with two older brothers, their friends always at our house, there were sports playing on the TV around the clock. While some aspects of my childhood were traumatic, the boys hanging out at our house spectating games is a warm memory. One of my eldest brother's best friends is even a sportscaster now, so I get to hear him calling games. Listening to him announce brings me joy, as does any football game hubbub.
Here’s a little haiku which sums up my nostalgic love for ESPN background noise:
Although not my jam
The sound of a football game
Is quite comforting
This all occurred to me recently, not because fall is coming but because I walked into my bedroom to hear Hubs watching the newish show Quarterback on Netflix. Usually I’m against any TV in the bedroom. But this I didn’t mind, at least for a bit.
