Job Advice

I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed lately. Every day is a marathon with my day job and of course my life job, being a mommy. I feel like I've been short with my kids, not the best version of myself. I haven't been following the parenting advice I'm always heeding. And I've been feeling guilty; it's been a vicious cycle.

So how am I dealing? I'm trying to not beat myself up. As psychologist and parenting pro Dr. Becky says, parenting now feels hard because it is hard. She recommends the following mantra: "It is really hard to be a parent right now. I am doing the best I can. I am doing enough. I am enough."

I'm also trying to keep my jobs in perspective. I've been keeping the following quotes in mind:

Who we are as individuals has a far greater impact on who our children grow up to be, than any particular parenting strategies or advice.
- Sarah Boyd

1. Whatever the work is, do it well--not for the boss but for yourself.
2. You make the job; it doesn't make you.
3. Your real life is with us, your family.
4. You are not the work you do; you are the person you are.

P.S. This job interview brought tears to my eyes.
