Good Material

I rushed to finish this novel in time for a local book club. I don't usually enjoy partaking in book clubs, but this one was taking place at Graybarns Mercantile, one of my favorite spots. I was sure I'd show up and meet my people! Fellow book lovers with great taste in locales.

I bought the book on a Monday and raced to finish it by Thursday. Ambitious! But my sitter cancelled, so it was all for naught.

Good Material is decent, more "eh" than "good." But people like it! So maybe you will, too. It's about a standup comic wading through a breakup. The novel has major (500) Days of Summer vibes, with a dash of Bridget Jones. However unlike the two aforementioned winning films, this book is a bit drawn out, and depressing. There are a couple of nuggets of wisdom, but Good Material isn't quite as meaty as I'd like for 315 pages.
