What About Bill?
As I mentioned in the postscript here one of the things I inherited from my dad (along with a dislike for cheese and an appreciation for great wine, dark chocolate, and pistachio ice cream) is a love for Bill Murray.
Bill Murray's movies are a staple of my childhood. There are a lot of "classic" movies I haven't seen. I blame my older brothers for my lack of film education. But Groundhog Day, Scrooged and What About Bob are favorites from growing up. We even had Scrooged on laserdisc. Remember laserdisc? Probably not.
I re-watched What About Bob with my dad recently. I don't know if it was the 2007 Krupp Brothers Cabernet or the pure brilliance of the film (probably both) but my dad and I laughed nonstop the entire movie. It was hysterical. And I have a special appreciation for Bob's neuroses at this point in my life, and during this time. Can you imagine Bob during Covid? And if you don't know what I'm talking about because you haven't seen the movie, see it ASAP. Expand your film horizons. Pair with a nice glass of red. Now more than ever, it's important to find something to giggle about, bond over (in person or virtual) and escape. Let Bill Murray be your guide.
