Hubs had one request for Father's Day: to see Top Gun: Maverick, at a movie theater, without kids ;) While we didn't make it to the movies on the actual holiday, we did go last Sunday.
Seeing Top Gun was a fun escape. We hadn't been to a movie theater in years. The experience wasn't without its slightly stressful moments, me being a Highly Sensitive Person, but overall it was totally worth it.
It felt good to be out of our bubble and bonding with our fellow moviegoers. We all lamented over the blaring trailers. The previews were so loud that people started threatening to go home. Fortunately, the main attraction was at a more tolerable decibel level. When the Top Gun theme song played, all was right in the world. What an optimistic anthem.
The movie was a tad bit too tense for me at times. (Again, HSP over here.) But overall it was heartwarming and entertaining. At one pivotal moment of the film a little kid in the audience whispered "Yes!" and the rest of us giggled. That was maybe the most endearing moment of 2022.
