The Tao of Ted Lasso
Yom Kippur is this week. We'll be celebrating in a nontraditional way this year, breaking bread with friends at a favorite restaurant nearby. Leading up to this holiest day of the Jewish year I'm practicing some self-reflection and trying for self-compassion. I feel like I'm failing myself and my kids quite often. How can I be less hard on myself, and on my family?
Recently on Ted Lasso the character Higgins said something simple yet quite profound to another character, Jamie Tartt, who was dealing with some major daddy issues. "I try to love my dad for who he is and forgive him for who he isn't."
Wow. Such an impactful, zen ideal. On this year's Day of Atonement I'm trying to focus on acceptance, love and, of course, forgiveness.
