Sunny Days

Me and My Ray Bans (and my most ripped jeans - sorry Dad!)

Me and My Ray Bans (and my most ripped jeans - sorry Dad!)

Remember when you were a kid and other kids started getting braces and glasses and they seemed so... cool? Nah? Just me? I always wanted the accessories. In retrospect, it was for the best I didn't need glasses, just braces. And a palate expander. Not fun. But my teeth are straight now, so I'm not complaining.

I was recently concerned about my eyes. I have had excellent vision my whole life, but lately I've been finding myself squinting at my computer and TV occasionally. I was sure I finally needed glasses.

I was wrong, sort of. My eyes are sensitive to light. Apparently light eyes such as blue or green are more sensitive to light. I have green eyes, and I get extra squinty in bright light. The doctor prescribed blue light blocking glasses for screens and sunglasses for outside, which of course I already wear.

The blue light blockers I tried are hideous on me. My coworkers can attest. But I am ever loyal to my tried and true sunglasses, my Ray Bans. I bought them in the airport en route to our honeymoon in South Africa and Mauritius. I'd been wearing them for a couple of years when my girlfriend pointed out the style name, Justin. (Hubs!)

Last year my office gave the Justin Ray Bans as a holiday gift. So now I have grey and tortoise. And I never go outdoors without them. Doctor's orders.
