Spilling the Tea
I started drinking mint tea sporadically a couple of years ago, after my acupuncturist recommended it. Fast forward to this summer and I find myself sipping it often, over ice. It's so refreshing, thirst quenching and satisfying. Whether on a workday afternoon while perched at my computer or on a weekend while relaxing poolside, peppermint iced tea hits the spot.
Everyone who comes over and takes a drink of Amy's Iced Tea raves about it. One friend compared it to a New Orleans Jazz Fest speciality, rosemint tea. People always want to know my recipe.
So, here's the secret... there is no recipe. I literally boil peppermint tea (my preferred brand is Traditional Medicinals) and pour it over ice. But here are my steps:
1. Boil water
2. Use a large mug or carafe to steep mint tea. I use one tea bag.
3. Let sit for around ten minutes.
4. Pour over ice.
5. Optional: put the carafe in the fridge.
6. Also optional but guaranteed, keep pouring tea over ice and sipping.
