Maine!

We took the girls to Maine a couple of weekends ago. We stayed in Kennebunkport, did a pitstop in Ogunquit, and visited my childhood sleepaway camp -- to show future camper Liv (& eventually Mia) the lay of the land.

I'm not at all feeling ready to send Liv to sleepaway camp. And I'm not sure that she's all that ready - she's a total homebody. But perhaps next summer she'll be ready enough. The idea of being apart from her all summer gives me a stomachache, but I know firsthand how special sleepaway camp is, and I want to give her that magical experience.

Being back at camp with my family was surreal. I was giddy, crying, all the feels. Mia was hangry and Liv was a bit quiet, taking it all in. Hubs was in good spirits (as per usual :) and could finally see firsthand my childhood home away from home, and feel the magic for himself. I took the fam all around camp and got to swim in the lake with the girls. We ate lunch in the dining hall with the campers. It was delightful. I was so sad to leave! But I have a feeling we'll be back very soon...

I wanted to share a few Kennebunkport recommendations:
- Eat lunch at The Clam Shack
- Eat a fancy dinner (no kids) at White Barn Inn
- Eat a slightly less fancy dinner (with kids) at Little Barn
- Grab coffee at Dock Square Coffee House
- Shop around town and make sure to stop at Daytrip Society and Daytrip Jr.
- Visit the local bookstore! Lupine Books
