Sprucing Up
The Fall edition of Domino does not disappoint. I dogeared many pages for inspiration and even ordered some the fine home furnishings featured inside. So all in all, it's a dangerous glossy, and I highly recommend picking it up :)
A few highlights:
In a "refined essentials" section, contributing editor Mark D. Sikes says "Fall fashions and inspired interiors intersect in the classic color combo of camel and gray." Amen! My husband sometimes gives me a hard time about my predilection for neutrals. This feature is all about two of my favorite hues: camel and gray. Sikes' picks include book Interiors Atelier AM from Rizzoli, Aspen cashmere throw in charcoal by Calvin Klein and bikini sandals in natural pul leather by K. Jacques.
The Fall Domino also has a feature recommending "hot fall titles for your home library." Three titles of the seven recommended that appeal to me:
1. Elsie de Wolfe's Paris: Frivolity Before the Storm by Charlie Scheips
2. Yves Saint Laurent: A Moroccan Passion by Pierre Berge
3. Sunday Suppers: Recipes + Gatherings by Karen Mordechai
"Homegrown talent" introduces Domino readers to Jen Smith, winner of the #SoDomino Instagram contest. Smith designed a "chic, family-friendly" home in Tampa, Florida. Smith's overall aesthetic is a little too colorful for me (see above) but one item she curated for her abode is right up my alley: the "Beverly I" print by The Aestate. The Aestate has a "Beverlies" collection comprising "four prints inspired by the walls of the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel." My husband and I went with the "Beverly II" print, and it happened to be on sale. Win-win.
